The high-level concept is that we want to make it easier to make big purchasing decisions in a comfortable environment which, in many cases, means working with a salesperson that a friend recommends or to whom you have some other personal connection. The most important thing our business emphasizes is TRUST – this is the primary emotion / feeling we want to evoke with our name. The secondary feelings / themes we want to touch on are EASE-OF-USE (easy) and FAMILIARITY. We want people to think of this service as easy to use and one in which they engage with people with whom they already have an existing relationship.


In terms of naming, we are open to literal / descriptive names that are quite catchy, but are probably more interested in names that are a bit more evocative and abstract (think Oreo or Java vs. freecreditreport.com; we are looking for the former). The name doesn’t necessarily have to be all that descriptive – it can be more based on sound and feel than meaning.


As we are a consumer website, domain availability is of paramount importance. If the name is not already available, it would have to be an unused placeholder or easy to purchase for us to be interested.


I already mentioned that TRUST, EASE-OF-USE, and FAMILIARITY are the key themes and feelings we are trying to evoke.


To get the ball rolling however, these types of ideas are also in play / related to the concept – neighborhood, community, social incentives, happiness, jolly, comfort, reliability, friendship, “getting a good deal”, personal relationships, joy, connection, maven, “‘me’ is the center of the universe”, local, bond, handshake etc.


Do not be afraid to go for names that are a bit out there or highly creative. We are looking for that certain something that rolls off our tongue and gets us excited about telling people about the business we have built.
